Join boaters of all shapes and sizes as we parade between Hayden Island and the Bridgeton neighborhood. Registration required for safety purposes.
Suggested donation accepted to register - $25 WHAT: Smile Boat Parade in Portland's newest destination “North Waterfront” WHEN: Saturday, August 22nd, 11:00 AM start. Check In 9:00-10:30 AM WHERE: North Portland Harbor on the Columbia River channel between Bridgeton & Hayden Island Local boaters of all sizes showcase their creativity, decking out their boats with flags and decorations, bringing smiles to everyone involved including onlookers from shore. The Smile Boat Parade captures the essence of enjoying water fun together!
Parade Route
Parade starts at the east end of the eastern tip of Hayden Island in Portland, Oregon in front of the Portland Yacht Club, 1241 NE Marine Drive. Cruise down river under the I-5 Bridge to end at the Railroad Bridge, just over 2 miles. Awards and after party will happen at Parade end, just west of the railroad bridge. There will a floating barge equipped with a convenient porto-potty and access to the beach near the parade finish line to celebrate with fellow boaters and neighbors!
Route is approximately 2 miles. A safe-boat tow will be available for non-motorized boats 1 hour before start (heading upstream) and 1 hour after the last boat finishes, to tow back upstream.
Parade Schedule
9:30 AM CHECK IN - Check in and refreshments (coffee and donuts) available on marine radio, channel 68 or at the check-in float at Hayden Island east end—look for flags and banners on float.
10:30 AM LINE UP - All boats line up by groups: 1st group - power boats 2nd group - Sailboats 3rd group - non-motorized boats (row, canoe, kayak, paddleboards, etc.)
11:00 AM LAUNCH - 1st group - power boats. 2nd group - Sailboats. 3rd group - non-motorized boats (row, canoe, kayak, paddleboards, etc.) 12:30 PM (afternoon) AFTER PARTY - After cruising, sailing, rowing, or paddling the parade route, join boaters and neighbors for the after party. Tie up to the floating barge just west of the railroad bridge for awards and refreshments!
